We have eaten here for yrs.. Sad a rift between owners is causing a decline in the food quality and staff attitude. Yesterday a man sat in a booth for 70 minutes.. In jeans and flip flops talking on phone. He WAS NOT a customer. The once yummy salsa now tastes like tomato sauce and the burrito all refried beans and lettuce! almost no meat.

It sucks big time....... we have been there a couple times cause its right on the road after coing from the hospital, anyway I will never go back!! reason is that the waiters pay much more attention to the gueros then mexicans... they never came back to ask if we needed anything after serving us ,but yet they went to the gueros table like 3 r 4 times...I thought this poor souls think some gueros tip more then some mexicans,in my case good service, good tip!! so needless to say they did'nt get one *_+*&^%$#$@ tip!!!!
Their salsa is watered down to nothing. Food is absolutely terrible, except for the cheese dip and the cheesy enchiladas (same cheese sauce I believe). The only things this place has going for it are its $5 jumbo margarita hours (rather poor margaritas but the price is right) and the fact that it's packed with freshmen girls. I would only go here for a girl's 21st birthday until my last experience...
Three of our group of eight were scheduled to arrive later, so they sat the rest of us at the bar. When the rest of the group showed up, we were moved to a table and the bartender came to give us our bills for the drinks. Three of the five of us paid with 20s for $5 orders and the bartender never returned with change. At the end of the night we went up to complain to the person at the front, who called over the bartender. Since we were just a bunch of gringos, they figured they could talk in Spanish in front of us and we'd have no idea, but I speak fluent Spanish. The conversation was: "Hey, these people said you never gave them change for their drinks." "Do they remember what they paid?" "Yea I think so" "Should I give them their money or can you get me out of this?" "I think you'll probably have to get it, that guy (me) looks a bit upset." Good thing I was with some ladies or I would have introduced his teeth to the back of his throat. Never coming back to this dump again and I'm advising my friends the same.
I lOVe this place my Dad is the owner haha
well I like it anD THE PEOPLE are very nice and its very cheap!
I must of ate at at a the wrong place. The service sucks and the food was raw. I would much rather go to lacasa! At least they care if you live or die there. Later!
Of all the Mexican restaurants in Iowa City, this is my favorite. The food is outstanding and the prices very reasonable. They also have the most friendly wait staff I have ever met. An excellent place to eat
My favorite authentic mexican restaurant in the world. The food here is great. It offers a huge menu with great prices. The lunch menu is outstanding. You can leave this restaurant completely stuffed and spend less that six dollars. The person waiting on you probably will not speak very good english but it just adds to the dining experience.
The mango & peach margaritas are delicious! Get a pitcher & share between 2-3 people-- it's an absolutely perfect way to enjoy a meal!
Get a pitcher for yourself. You deserve it! ;)
